Flag assembly instructions

If your board has the holes pre-drilled for the flag, go to step 3.
1. Drill 1/16” hole, 1 ¾” up from bottom of board, ½” deep, in center of front support.
Caution: Make sure hole is drilled exactly center or parts won’t fit properly.

2. Drill 1/16” hole at rear of board, 1 ½” up from bottom of board, ¼” from rear of board.

3. Screw eye screw (A) in hole, drilled in step #2, at rear of board so that the hole in the eye screw (A)  is horizontal to the board.

4. Take #6 screw (B), slide finishing washer (C) onto screw with rounded side against screw head,  slide spring (D) onto screw (B)

5. Take adjustment sprocket (E), with slots upward, put adjustment lever (F) so that knob on lever goes into indentations on sprocket (E) as shown.

6. Take flag (G) and slide onto adjustment lever ( F) with flag pointing towards back of board. Take  washer (H) with counter sunk hole towards flag, put screw (B) with finishing washer (C) & spring (D) into flag hardware just assembled. Be sure adjustment lever (F) is pointed towards front of board as shown, insert #6 screw (B) in hole drilled in step #1. Make sure at this time the adjustment sprocket (E) is straddling front support as shown. Tighten #6 screw (B) so that very little tension is on spring (D), just enough to hold parts together; too much tension will make the adjustment bar hard to move and also cause
the parts to wear.

Option #1: With fish on flag goes down

Insert rounded end of adjustment spring (I) into top flag hole #1, from under side. Bring spring (I) around to front of adjustment lever (F), insert opposite end of spring (I) in top hole of adjustment lever (F). Insert rod (J) through eye screw (A), push all the way through, move flag about half way down, insert hook end of rod (J) in flag hole #1, where you just hooked the spring (I), as shown. Attach flag clip (K) to split ring (L), attach split ring to rod (J). To adjust tension, pullout slightly on adjustment lever, and move downward to increase tension; move lever up to decrease tension (you will feel it drop into the indentations).

Option #2: With fish on flag goes up

Insert rounded end of adjustment spring (I) into bottom flag holes #2 from under side. Bring spring (I) around to front of adjustment lever (F), insert opposite end of spring (I) into bottom hole of adjustment lever (F). Insert rod (J) through eye screw (A), push all the way through, move flag about halfway up, insert hook end of rod (J) into flag hole #2, where you just hooked the spring (I). Attach flag clip (K) to split ring (L), attach split ring (L) to rod (J). To adjust tension, pull out slightly on adjustment lever and move up to increase tension; move lever downward to decrease tension (you will feel it drop into the indentations).
