Take apart your two piece rod. Then simply wrap the straps around the two pieces (one at each end) and the straps will hold them firmly together. You can also place rod wrap completely around one half of your rod, then wrap completely around both halves. This will prevent your rod from being scratched by the two halves rubbing together.
