Instructions For Using The TX-22 Special
Planer Board
Please read and follow all directions carefully.
Make sure your clip is adjusted properly. Never let your clip slide on the line,
this will damage the clip.
Adjust clip by turning phillips screw clockwise to increase tension or counter
clockwise to decrease tension, be sure the clip is adjusted properly. Line
from lure runs under clip, not between pinch pads. Line
to rod runs between pinch pads.
A) If you want the board to release (above fig.), position line underneath the nose
of clip, open clip, insert line 1/2 way into clip. Your line will run from rear
pin, under nose of clip, up and then into clip. The line from board to rod will
be pulling from back side of clip. This will give you the angle needed to
release clip with a quick jerk. Always adjust clip so it won’t slip, or damage
will occur, but light enough to pull free by hand with a quick jerk. Put a #7
swivel or split-shot about 18” in front of your lure. Your board will slide down
to swivel or split-shot, this will prevent board from making contact with fish.
B) If you want the board to stay on the line, insert line all the way into clip and increase clip tension. With fish on, reel board in, pull rear pin,
release clip and retrieve fish.
While at trolling speed, let out your lure to desired distance from board.
Attach clip to line. Pull rear pin, insert line
and release pin. Place your board in the water. Let out line until you achieve
the distance you want your board to run from side of boat. Set drag. To remove board, reel in board, pull rear pin to release line,
open clip to release line.
Never drop your board, this can damage the clip or the rear pin. In time the
rear pin will need to be replaced.
In time your clip may start to slip, remove the phillips screw, check to see if
plastic is showing signs of wear. If no wear is visible, clean plastic
with damp cloth and reassemble clip. Clip will need to be replaced when showing
signs of wear; when using the new super lines, clips will
have to be replaced more often. The super lines are so fine in diameter it
causes the clip to wear more rapidly.
We highly recommend 14# or larger diameter super braids; 8# or larger diameter
monofilament lines.
Made with non-corrosive materials suitable for saltwater use. When using in
saltwater always rinse clip thoroughly with tap water when finished.
TX-22 SPECIAL PLANER BOARD ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:

RIGHT (STARBOARD SHOWN) or LEFT (PORT) APPLICATION
Step 1. The word RIGHT on front of board should be at the top side. Turn board
over to
back side RIGHT should remain at the top. For left (port), start with word
LEFT on the front of board at the top then continue with step 2.
Step 2. At rear of board is a pre-drilled hole, slide pin partially through
hole and slide spring onto pin, push pin all the way down. Using needle nose
or standard pliers grip hair pin firmly (or it will go flying) while holding
pin down firmly, slide spring up past groove with thumb nail and push hair pin
into groove on pin. Test pin by pulling pin outward to make sure hair pin is
in groove. There are 2 pre-drilled holes so the rear pin can be changed from
right to left but it is not necessary when changing board from right to left,
the only difference is the pin would be at the bottom of board instead of
top.
Step 3. Install foam so that cut-out in foam is at the bottom of the
board.
Step 4. Install the weight with the tabs on each end to the inside. Take a
#8x3/4 screw and start screw through plastic, align the hole in weight with
the screw, with phillips screw driver run screw all the way in, just until the
head bottoms out, do not over
tighten. Take the second #8x3/4 screw, hold foam in so it’s flat against the
inside surface and insert screw in the top, just bottom the head out, do not
over tighten.
Step 5. To install flag, on the back side of the board, make sure the flag is
pointed toward the rear of the board, put the #6x1/2 screw through bottom hole
in the flag and attach flag using pre-drilled hole in bulkhead, snug the screw
but do not over tighten. When the flag is raised it will lock into position by
a tab at top of the board. When not in use the flag can be folded down
for easy storage.

Step 6. Turn the board over and lay flat down with the word RIGHT at the
top, (LEFT at the top when assembling for left application). You will notice 4
holes on the front surface of the board, align tow-arm and clip with 2 holes
lettered R for right, (use L for left application). Make sure the thumb
release on the clip is at the top side, put one #6x1/2 screw through hole in
tow-arm and tighten it to the board until snug. Align second hole, install
second #6x1/2 screw and tighten until snug, do not over tighten. Now your
board is ready to use.
